Punting on River Cam

A punt is a flat-bottomed boat which does not have a keel, and is propelled by means of a long pole.

Punts were introduced as pleasure craft in Edwardian times, since then punting has become one of the most popular ways to see the famous bridges and colleges along the River Cam.

You can choose from taking a tour with a chauffeur guide or hiring a punt for yourselves.
There are two types of punt: 6-seater and 12-seater (12 seaters available with chauffeur only).

This is our Chauffer punt. His name's Chris.

Our punt had 12 seaters.
The  tour took us the length of the Backs between Silver St and Quayside lasting approximately 45 minutes. The tour included Queens' College and the Mathematical bridge, Kings College, Claire College, Trinity Hall, Trinity College, St. Johns College, the bridge of Sighs, and Magdelene College.

Blanket has been very useful because the rain stopped just before we got in the punt and it was extremely wet!

Our chauffeur Chris was an expert punter and he presented us the historical facts and stories of the colleges, University and the student life.
Have you heard that Sir Isaac Newton designed the Mathematical Bridge, without nuts or bolts

For part of the tour our punt approached our friends' punt and
we had fun together!

It's been a lovely and relaxing experience...luckily without rain!
